The Indonesian Coal Index (ICI) is the weekly price benchmark of Indonesian coal in both domestic and international markets. It is published weekly by Argus Media and Coalindo Energy, and is based on assessments of five different grades of coal:

ICI 1:

This is the highest quality grade of Indonesian coal, with a gross calorific value (GAR) of 6,500 kcal/kg and a net calorific value (NAR) of 6,200 kcal/kg.

ICI 2:

This grade has a GAR of 5,800 kcal/kg and a NAR of 5,500 kcal/kg. It is also a high-quality coal, but it is slightly less calorific than ICI 1.

ICI 3:

This grade has a GAR of 5,000 kcal/kg and a NAR of 4,600 kcal/kg. It is a medium-quality coal, and is commonly used in power generation.

ICI 4:

This grade has a GAR of 4,200 kcal/kg and a NAR of 3,800 kcal/kg. It is a low-quality coal, but it is still a valuable commodity for some industrial applications.

ICI 5:
